Tetley Tea Folk Just The Way You Are
Tetley, the British tea brand, has launched a new television commercial featuring Sydney, one of the Tetley Tea Folk, singing Billy Joel’s 1970s song “Just the Way You Are”. The ad is the fourth in the Tea Folk come-back series launched in September 2010. But in true Sydney style he cannot quite hit all of the notes and forgets some of the words. The Tetley Tea Folk have their own website, Youtube channel, Twitter and Facebook accounts. The Tetley Tea Folk will be back with an ad for Tetley Extra Strong on 22nd October and Tetley Green Tea in January 2012.

Muller Rice Cast Yogi Bear, Muttley and Mr Men to star in a £20m campaign
Müller has licensed cartoon characters Yogi Bear, Muttley and Mr Men to star in a £20m campaign that pushes the yoghurt brand as “fun and delicious”.
The television ads, created by TBWA, invite people to “stir a little bit of Wünder” into their lives by eating yogurts and dessert. It introduces the strapline “Wünderful Stuff”.
The cartoon characters are seen transforming a grey city into one with bright colours, rainbows and unicorns.
Lee Rolston, marketing director at Müller Dairy, says: “Over the years we have continued to stir in an imaginative mix of ingredients to turn a product which was seen as plain and ordinary into something which is fun and delicious.
“That’s exactly what the ’Wünderful Stuff’ campaign sets out to do. It captures the essence of the Müller brand which is essentially all about the enjoyment and fun of a great-tasting product.”

Twinings Get Back to You Advert
I recently saw this advert and instantly fell in love with the animation and soft colour palette. Here is what Twinings have to say:
We've created this really quite extraordinary piece of animated advertising to metaphorically explain the hectic lives that women today lead, and how taking just 10 minutes out each day to reconnect with yourself can have such an impact on the rest of your day.
We teamed up with animation house Psyop, working through the creative process from simple illustrations, to creating something that we believe is truly spectacular. To bring the animation to life we have worked with up and coming young artist Charlene Soraia, to bring you the wonderfully emotional recording of "Wherever You Will Go", which is available to download on itunes from Monday 3rd October.

Audi ad reveals Le Mans driver experience
This beautiful new ad for Audi from BBH London stars Audi Le Mans team leader Allan McNish and gives a real insight into the physical endurance required to be a Le Mans driver...
Directed by Chris Hemming at Passion Pictures, the ad is two-and-a-half minutes in length and incorporates a mixture of live action, hand-drawn sketches and stereoscopic techniques. The 2D version is shown above, but a 3D version will play out on Sky 3D during the Champions League final on Saturday and also in cinemas.
"Audi were keen to promote Le Mans, as it is an unsung success for them," says Kevin Stark, creative director at BBH. "They have won it nine out of eleven times in the last few years. I was lucky to see Le Mans winner Allan McNish at the Audi National Forum. He did a five-minute lecture on the famous endurance race, but from the driver's perspective. I thought this might have potential to answer our brief. We wanted to bring a human aspect to Audi communications and Allan's off-beat and likeable style was a good fit."
"Next step was to get this into a manageable time length film," continues Stark. "And also see if we could further increase the exciting, sensory experience of driving the race. We approached animator Chris Hemming at Passion Pictures. Chris and his artist Tim Marrs did some great, expressive style sketches that enhanced what Allan was saying but without drowning his performance. Allan was filmed using 3D live action cameras, but Chris had the idea that we could make the hand-drawn sketch style 3D too, but also using stereoscopic techniques. The result is a fresh-looking piece of animation that works well in 2D but really comes alive in 3D."

New Cadbury's advert
Cadbury's has released the latest spot in its Glass and a Half Full Productions film series for Dairy Milk. The new ad sees various items of clothing in a charity shop burst into a choreographed piece of dance once the shop has closed. The commercial, by Fallon London, is set to Jermaine Stewart's 80s salute to the delights of abstinence and 'cherry wine' You Don't Have To Take Your Clothes Off.
While I think the advert is very entertaining and the song is catchy and helps the ad to be more memorable.....i do think the execution of this advert could have been better. i think the clothing sometimes looks awkward and the padding in items such as trousers and shorts looks very peculiar!

Goodbye Cow, Pirate, Cyclist from Cravendale
Charming advertising characters are thin on the ground these days, so it is with some sadness that I discovered Cravendale has decided to kill off the quirky group of housemates that has graced its ads for the last four years, in order to move its advertising in a new direction. Ad agency Wieden + Kennedy in London has created this amusing film to bid farewell to the cow, pirate and cyclist (and sheep on a skateboard)...
The ads were directed by Belgian directing duo Pic Pic Andre. To view more of their work, including a trailer for their film A Town Called Panic, visit Not To Scale's website here.

Nice work for Nike, Skittles, Lynx, Virgin Media and more...
The second piece from Nike is a trailer for a new film project from Nike Basketball, which is directed by Robert Rodriguez. Titled The Black Mamba, the film stars Bruce Willis and Kanye West and will be released online on February 19. More info is here.
Skittles returned with another surreal little number this week too, starring two men trapped in giant fists. Agency: TBWA Chiat Day, New York. Director: Ulf Johansson.
BBH in London has released a TV spot for the new Lynx fragrance, Excite. While beautifully shot by Rupert Sanders, the ad's narrative takes the usual Lynx schtick of the deodorant rendering men irresistible to women to new, ridiculous heights as angels drop from the sky to seek out the Lynx wearer. Surely it's time for Lynx to look for a new narrative now. Please?
This new ad for Virgin Media (by DDB London) in turn features a curious remix of a familiar tune, with the lyrics from Madness's Our House set to the Dan Black track, Symphonies. The ad is directed by Seb Edwards and aims to show how the brand makes the world 'a more exciting place to live'.

J R Hartley Reimagined
Dabbling in nostalgia can be a risky advertising strategy, as this new spot for Yell from Rapier proves...The ad aims to update the Yellow Pages J R Hartley ad, which first aired in 1983, for the modern era. For those of a certain age, this classic ad (shown below) will be fondly remembered: it starred an elderly gentleman (actor Norman Lumsden) seeking out a book on fly fishing from a number of second-hand bookshops. After he returns home empty-handed, his daughter suggests searching via the Yellow Pages. He finds the book, and the final scene then reveals that it is in fact written by him. The spot struck a chord with popular culture and was spoofed in a number of sketches in the 80s by comedians including Harry Enfield and Fry & Laurie.

Cool Typography Print Ads – Pictures that speak out!
Ever thought which is the hardest job for graphic designers? Let me…It is to effectively visualize a concept into a single image. This is the exact requirement in creating a powerful print ad for newspaper, magazine or billboards. A print ad copy consists of two elements: visual imagery and typography. Although a picture is worth a thousand words, but the power of words cannot be underestimated. And the best way to illustrate words is through effective use of typography.
Challenges for Graphic Designers in Print Ads:
Creating print ads is quiet a challenging job for the graphic designers. There are a few reasons that cause the making of print ads a little tricky, e.g:- • Say more in Less Space: For starters, a print medium has less space than any other advertising medium. You need to communicate efficiently and effectively.
- • Lack of Emotions: Print ads lack the emotions that TV ads carry. You need to manipulate the words and pictures to create an attractive copy.
- • No Sound or Visual effects: In creating a print ad there are no visual aids or sound effects, you use an immovable media to create a moving ad.

The noodle van is coming... The noodle van is coming...
AKQA's has made a charmingly animated spot for Pot Noeldle, a special Christmassy version of the dried food snack. The ad mocks the smaltz of most of the seasonal ads out there, offering a more down-to-earth, and particularly UK-based Xmas experience instead. As the Pot Noodle van travels through town, the locals can't help but drop what they're doing and follow it, until a firmly 2010-style Christmas scene is unveiled.

BBC Radio 4 - Today Programme Adverts
I was watching television about a week ago and was absolutely delighted when an avert for the BBC Radio 4 Today Programs popped up. I saw the Yoko Ono clip and loved the mixture of illustration and animation. Through further research I found that the project was a collaboration between the well established Why Not Associates and Red Bee Media. The Illustration that was involved was drawn by Paul Davis.
